About Us

St. Andrew's Evangelical Lutheran Church is more than just a church. We are a family, amongst one another, growing together in Christ.

St. Andrew’s is a member of Evangelical Lutheran Church in America (ELCA).

We gratefully acknowledge the Mission Investment Fund of the ELCA as our loan provider.

Church History

St. Andrew’s Evangelical Lutheran Church was established in 1960 by Pastor Merton Luebke. The first Sunday worship was held October 12, 1960 in the basement of Shoreview Bowling Lanes, where services were held until the first part of our current location was built. Services started in what is now the Fellowship Hall on October 26, 1963.

The current sanctuary was completed in December 1979. In 1990, the stained glass windows were created and installed by congregation members.

St. Andrew’s has had four permanent pastors:

  • 1960 – 1989: Rev. Merton Luebke
  • 1990 – 1995: Rev. Steven Jacobsen
  • 1995 – 2022: Rev. Karen Jewell
  • 2024 – present:  Rev. Karen Tews
